Privacy Policy

BirdieBudz ("we", "us", "our") operates the BirdieBudz mobile application and website at birdiebudz.com. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

When you use BirdieBudz, we collect:

• Account information: Email address, display name, username, and optional phone number you provide during sign-up. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the basic profile information those providers share with us (typically name and email).
• Profile information: Handicap, pace preference, home course, membership type, and profile photo.
• Optional personal details: If you choose to add them, your bio, drink of choice, go-to club, tee box preference, walk/ride preference, bucket-list course, and birthday. These fields are entirely optional and visible to other authenticated users on your profile.
• Social media handles: Optional Instagram, X, TikTok, and Facebook usernames you choose to add. These are stored as plain handles and only used to render outbound links to those platforms from your profile. We do not access or sync any data from those services.
• Golf activity: Tee times you create or join, "I'm Free" availability posts, weekly availability schedule, league participation, groups, and round history (scores, courses, dates, holes, par, optional notes you add). We also track auto-derived statistics from your rounds (course collector count, per-course personal records) and any hole-in-one count you log.
• Contacts (optional): If you grant Contacts permission to find friends already on BirdieBudz, the matching is performed entirely on-device by hashing phone numbers locally. Your raw contact data is never uploaded to or stored on our servers. You can decline this permission and the rest of the app continues to work normally.
• Device information: Push notification tokens for sending you notifications about your tee times and friend activity.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide the core service: coordinating tee times, availability, leagues, tournaments, and groups with your friends.
• To compute statistics from rounds you log (best round, scoring average, course collector, per-course personal records).
• To send push notifications about join requests, tee time updates, league confirmations, friend requests, and tournament announcements.
• To display your profile to other authenticated users (see Section 3 for what is visible).
• To enable friend search by username, phone number, or — if you opt in — local matching of your phone contacts.
• To process payments for optional features (e.g., Mulligan tournament unlocks) through our payment processor, Stripe.

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your data is shared only in these ways:

• With other users: Your display name, username, handicap, pace tag, home course, optional personal details (bio, drink, go-to club, tee box, walk/ride, bucket-list course, social handles), birthday banner on your birthday, hole-in-one count, weekly availability schedule, and profile photo are visible to other authenticated BirdieBudz users. Tee times, tournaments, and "I'm Free" posts are shared only with the audience you choose (specific friends, groups, or all users).
• Service providers: We use Supabase for data storage and authentication, Expo for push notifications, and Stripe for processing optional purchases. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies. Payments may appear on your statement as Cast Marketing LLC.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely in Supabase (hosted on AWS) with row-level security policies ensuring users can only access data they are authorized to see. Profile photos are stored in Supabase Storage.

5. Your Rights

• Access and edit: You can view and update your profile information, golf identity fields, social handles, birthday, and round history at any time in the app.
• Delete your account: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from the Profile screen. This action is irreversible.
• Opt out of notifications: You can disable push notifications through your device settings at any time.
• Revoke contacts permission: You can revoke contacts access at any time in your device settings; the app will continue to work without it.

6. Children's Privacy

BirdieBudz is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
